FRESNO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for the Contra Costa Water District Shortcut Pipeline Improvements Project. Under the proposed action, a variety of improvements would be made to the pipeline and the surrounding area in order to simplify operations and maintenance.

The Shortcut Pipeline is owned by Reclamation and operated and maintained by the Contra Costa Water District. This pipeline is also the main source of water supply for the city of Martinez and the Shell Oil Martinez refinery. Critical repairs and improvements necessary to ensure reliable long-term water supply using the pipeline have been identified in the EA and consist of access road construction, infrastructure rehabilitation, and long-term operation and maintenance activities.

The Final EA/FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=27429 . If you encounter problems accessing the documents, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 800-877-8339) or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
