Media Contact: Jeffrey S. McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: May 24, 2005

On Tuesday, May 24, 2005, the Bureau of Reclamation increased releases into the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam. An increase from 7,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 8,000 cfs began at noon. The flow increase is for flood control and inflow management. This release schedule, based on the current forecast, is subject to change. Flows are expected to remain high due to runoff.

Recreationists on or along the San Joaquin River are advised to exercise caution due to higher and colder river flow conditions.

As conditions change, operational updates will be provided. For additional information, please contact Mr. Antonio Buelna, South-Central California Area Office, at 559-487-5116 (TDD 559-487-5933) or e-mail: abuelna@mp.usbr.gov.
