Media Contact: Jeffrey S. McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: May 24, 2005

At 1 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, the Bureau of Reclamation began ramping down flows in the Lower American River below Nimbus Dam. Releases will decrease from 15,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) by several increments of 300 to 1,000 cfs down to 6,000 cfs by 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005. This release schedule is subject to change based on the increased or decreased inflow to Folsom Reservoir. Updates will be announced as conditions require a change in operations.

Recreationists on or along the Lower American River are advised to exercise caution due to higher, faster, and colder river flow conditions for this time of year.
