Media Advisory: Reclamation Hosts Event to Identify and Fund New, Innovative Water Treatment Technologies at Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility

This event is bringing six projects to the facility in Alamogordo, New Mexico and having them pitch experts on the merits of their technology

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a pitch-to-pilot event at its Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility in Alamogordo, New Mexico. This unique event was designed to identify and fund innovative water treatment technologies for enhancing existing freshwater supplies in the United States.

The public and media may learn more about the projects on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thirty minute tours of the facility will be provided from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., that same day.

Background: The Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility (BGNDRF) is a focal point for developing technologies for the desalination of brackish and impaired groundwater found in the inland states. It is located in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It was opened on August 16, 2007. This facility brings together researchers from other Federal government agencies, universities, the private sector, research organizations, and state and local agencies to work collaboratively and in partnership.
