Public Meeting on Navajo Reservoir Spring Peak Releases

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a public meeting Tuesday, August 23 at 6 p.m., to recap the 2016 spring peak release operations at Navajo Reservoir. The meeting agenda includes a recap of the 2016 spring operations; flood risk management and safe channel capacity; sedimentation and bank erosion in the San Juan River Basin; and floodplain risk issues.

Susan Behery, Hydraulic Engineer for Reclamation, hopes the public will attend the meeting to, “learn about the purpose and need for spring peak releases from Navajo Reservoir and discuss the 2016 spring peak release operations.”

The meeting will include presentations and representation from several agencies, including: Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service, and San Juan County, N.M, Office of Emergency Management. There will be opportunities for questions, comments, and discussion during the meeting.
