For Release: October 17, 2003

As a result of the extremely low storage level of Navajo Reservoir and to attempt to conserve as much water in the reservoir as possible, the Bureau of Reclamation is announcing the following minimum releases from the reservoir for Fall and Winter 2003-2004. It should be noted that releases may be higher than the minimums listed below in order to meet downstream demands and to maintain the target base flow for the endangered fish.

1. For the rest of October 2003, the minimum release will be 350 cubic feet per second (cfs).

2. Beginning November 3, 2003, the minimum release will be 250 cfs. The minimum release of 250 cfs will be in effect until the beginning of the 2004 irrigation season (April 2004), or as determined by the Record of Decision for the Navajo Operations Environmental Impact Statement.
