Media Contact: ,

For Release: March 16, 2004

Reclamation and 53 of its Central Valley Project (CVP) water contractors have executed interim renewal water service contracts (see reverse for list of contractors). With the exception of the eight Cross Valley Canal contracts, the interim contracts have been renewed for a period of 2 years, from March 1, 2004, through February 28, 2006. The eight Cross Valley Canal contracts are renewed for a 1-year period, March 1, 2004, through February 28, 2005. The execution of these interim contracts was necessary because the existing interim contracts expired in February 2004, before the long-term contracts could be executed. The contracts are needed to provide continued water deliveries to existing CVP contractors with interim contracts.

Reclamation has also made available the Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) prepared for these interim renewal water service contracts. The SEA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Reclamation determined that an Environmental Impact Statement was not required for the execution of the interim renewal water service contracts.

For additional information or to request a copy of the SEA, FONSI, or interim renewal contracts, please contact Sammie Cervantes at 916-978-5104 or TDD 916-978-5608. The documents will be made available online at www.usbr.gov/mp/cvpia/3404c/index.html.
