SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $1.8 million contract to T and S DVBE, Inc. of Anderson, Calif. for the improvement of existing roads south of Tulelake, Calif. in Siskiyou County.

The contract includes the supply, delivery and placement of gravel on existing Tulelake roads to improve 25.5 miles of existing gravel and dirt roads over the next eight months. Minimal to no impact to the public is anticipated during construction.

The roads are close to the Oregon/California border on the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge and are used to access 15,000 acres of leased agricultural lands. They are heavily traveled by lessees, farm workers, birders, hunters, and irrigation district and government personnel. These roads are in need of repairs and additional gravel surfacing, as in their current condition, vehicles and machinery become immobilized in the soft ground from mud and snow during the wet season.

“We are pleased to announce the award of this contract to T and S DVBE, Inc. a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. This project is anticipated to yield many positive benefits, including supporting the local economy, improved safety of the roads, and better access to these beautiful and productive lands,” said David Murillo, Mid-Pacific Regional Director.

For additional information on this contract, contact Mike Green, 541-883-6935.
