CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review an Environmental Assessment on a project to construct a permanent watercraft inspection and decontamination station in Sutcliffe, Nev., to prevent aquatic invasive species introductions into Pyramid Lake.

The project would be implemented by the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation using funds provided via a sub-grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation; the original grant funding source is Reclamation’s Desert Terminal Lakes Program. The Desert Terminal Lakes Program provides funding assistance to carry out conservation activities for terminal lakes and associated watersheds.

The project would include site preparation, construction of the station, and installation of directional signs. The station would operate year round and provide watercraft inspections and decontamination. Operations would be funded by tribal sales of public recreation use permits.

The EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and may be viewed at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=25517. If you encounter problems accessing the document, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 800-877-8339) or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
