Reclamation, Lake Solano County Parks and Putah Creek Council to Host an Every Kid in a Park Feature Event

WINTERS, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation, Lake Solano County Parks and the Putah Creek Council will host an Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) Feature Event on Saturday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake Solano County Park’s Nature Center. The park is just west of Winters at 8685 Pleasants Valley Road. For directions, please visit http://www.co.solano.ca.us/depts/rm/countypark/dd/default.asp.
Parking at Lake Solano County Park is $6 for the day. Participation in this event is otherwise free of charge, and no registration is required.
The day’s events will begin with a guided tour at 11 a.m., continue with a scavenger hunt at noon, and conclude with children’s activities from 1 to 3 p.m., rain or shine. The guided tour is limited to 15 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Department of the Interior’s EKIP initiative aims to introduce every fourth grader in the country to their national public lands in 2016, the year of the National Park Service Centennial.
As part of this event, local fourth-grade students will be able to earn their free “America the Beautiful EKIP Pass” which offers the students and their families free access to federal public lands managed by Reclamation, the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, National Forest Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Until Aug. 31, 2016, these agencies will waive admission to public lands, including Yellowstone, Yosemite and Grand Canyon National Parks.
