For Release: February 19, 2016

NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation announces that no successful bids were received in response to a business opportunity (Prospectus) for the development and long-term management of five concession areas at Lake Berryessa (Putah Canyon, Spanish Flat, Monticello Shores, Berryessa Point and Steele Canyon recreation areas). The bidding period was open from July 2 to Aug. 31 and extended to Sept. 15, 2015.

Three California companies each bid on one area (Berryessa Point, Monticello Shores and Steele Canyon). After careful review of the bids by a selection panel that included both Reclamation and non-Reclamation members, additional information was requested from all three bidders. Following review of the supplemental information, all three bids were found to be “non-responsive.” In government contracting, “non-responsive” means a bid did not comply with all requirements of the Prospectus, which may include price, quantity, quality or guaranty.

Reclamation is now determining how best to proceed in developing long-term concession contracts at the lake and encourages continued public involvement. Lake Berryessa Community Forum meetings are designed to promote public input on recreation opportunities and services at the lake. The public is invited to participate in the next meeting, which will be held:

Wednesday, March 2, 5-7 p.m.

Lake Berryessa Senior Center

4380 Spanish Flat Loop Road, Napa, CA 94558

Recreation opportunities at Lake Berryessa in 2016 will continue to include Reclamation-managed facilities including a visitor center, the Oak Shores, Smittle Creek and Eticuera Day Use Areas, and the Capell Cove Boat Launch, and five concession-managed areas: Pleasure Cove Marina, Markley Cove Resort, Steele Canyon Recreation Area, Putah Canyon Recreation Area, and Spanish Flat Recreation Area.
