TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has issued a solicitation for construction of the dam safety modifications to Stampede Dam to address hydrologic concerns. Stampede Dam will be raised 11.5 feet using mechanically stabilized earth walls. Two small dikes will be constructed along the south reservoir rim. In addition, the spillway crest structure will be reconstructed to limit discharges to the current spillway capacity.

Completed in 1970, Stampede Dam is a zoned earthfill embankment dam located approximately 11 miles northeast of Truckee, California, in Sierra County.

The Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and completed in May 2012. The cultural resources programmatic agreement was executed by the State Historic Preservation Officer in March 2014.

The solicitation can be obtained at www.FedBizOpps.gov, Solicitation Number R16PS00018.
