For Release: August 02, 2004

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that contractors will begin 24-hour tunneling operations on or about August 6 near the old Auburn Dam site. The tunneling is part of the ongoing construction work to build a permanent pumping station for the Placer County Water Agency. The tunneling work is expected to end in early October 2004.

Work during the night hours is necessary to accomplish construction of the pumping plant on schedule. The majority of work will be underground and should not be noticeable to nearby residents.
