Hoover Dam Tour Times Extended One Hour

Beginning this Sunday, April 17, visitors to Hoover Dam, which is located about 35 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, will have an extra hour in which to tour the facility.

The visitor center currently opens and tickets go on sale for the tour at 9:00 a.m. The last tour tickets are sold at 4:15 p.m., and the visitor center closes at 5:00 p.m.

Effective Sunday, tour tickets will be available until 5:15 p.m., and the visitor center will stay open until 6:00 p.m.

These operating hours will remain in effect until Labor Day. After Labor Day, the 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule will be re-instituted.

Hoover Dam, located 35 miles southeast of Las Vegas on Highway 93, is open for tours every day except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Admission to the visitor center is $10 for adults (ages 17-61), $8 for seniors (age 62 and above) and military members and their dependents, $4 for juniors (age 7-16) and free for children under 6 years of age.

The admission fee includes:

* entrance to the visitor center, including indoor and outdoor observation decks;

* access to all exhibits and a 25-minute film about the dam's construction, and;

* regularly scheduled presentations by professional Reclamation guides at strategic points around the dam which provide in-depth information about its many features.

Covered parking is also available at $5 per vehicle from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
