Reclamation Announces Draft Environmental Documents and Public Meeting on Bucktail Channel Rehabilitation Project

WEAVERVILLE, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (federal co-lead agencies), with the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Water Board - State lead agency), today announces a Draft Environmental Assessment/Initial Study (Draft EA/IS) and a public meeting to discuss the Trinity River Restoration Program’s (TRRP) Proposed Bucktail Channel Rehabilitation project, scheduled for implementation in summer 2016.

The TRRP proposes to construct Bucktail to increase salmon and steelhead habitat downstream of Lewiston Dam, as described in the December 19, 2000, Record of Decision for the Trinity River Mainstem Fishery Restoration Environmental Impact Statement. The public meeting will be held:

To assist with development of the project, the public is invited to attend the meeting to hear the latest design updates and to provide comments on the proposed project and document.

The Draft EA/IS was created in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act.
