The Bureau of Reclamation, in cooperation with the state of Utah and the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, held the first of two planned public meetings in Park City, Utah on Tuesday night. The purpose of the meeting was to provide in a public forum, information contained in the recently released "Status Report on the Snyderville Basin Water Supply Study." Reclamation has been directed by Congress to evaluate water needs within the rapidly growing Park City and Snyderville Basin area, quantify those needs, and develop and evaluate alternatives to provide for future Municipal and Industrial (M&I) water supplies.

The April 5th meeting was held in the Sheldon D. Richins Building auditorium. Approximately 30 people attended and heard from representatives from Reclamation, the Utah Division of Water Resources, the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District and others on the existing and projected water supplies and demands for the Park City/Snyderville Basin area. A question and answer session followed the presentation.

Reclamation, in cooperation with its partners, core team members, stakeholders and the public, will compile all comments received between now and April in preparation of a final report which will be released in draft form in August for public review and comment. That report will review water development options for public, private and quasi-governmental entities in the area. Comments will be received until Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Written comments should be addressed to Bureau of Reclamation, Attention: Mr. Steve Noyes, PRO-711, 302 E. 1860 S., Provo, UT 84606-7317. Comments may also be submitted via email to Steve Noyes. The Status Report, the Executive Summary and other information regarding this study are available on Reclamation's Provo Area Office web site. If you need more information, please contact Mr. Noyes at 801-379-1032.
