FOLSOM, Calif. – Effective immediately, the Bureau of Reclamation is rescinding the ban on campfires in all campgrounds and day use areas at Lake Berryessa and New Melones Lake.
The ban went into effect in late September due to drought conditions and high fire danger. With the cooler temperatures, increased night time humidity, and precipitation received, Reclamation believes it is now safe to rescind the ban.
Please remember campfires are only permitted in campground fire rings. Keep fires manageable and completely extinguish fires before leaving the area.
For questions, please call the Lake Berryessa Administrative Office at 707-966-2111, ext. 0, or the New Melones Administrative Office at 209-536-9094, ext. 0 (TTY 800-877-8339).
