IRWIN, Idaho – The Bureau of Reclamation extended the completion date for a construction project at Palisades Dam to replace aging overhead utilities with an underground system. The project is now expected to be finished by the end of November.
For safety reasons the construction site on the dam crest will remain closed to all public access through the completion of the project.
Palisades Dam, 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was constructed by Reclamation in 1957 as part of the Palisades Project. It is a multipurpose facility that provides for irrigation, flood control, hydropower and recreation.
