NAPA, Calif. – In celebration of California Coastal Cleanup Day, the Bureau of Reclamation is partnering with the California Coastal Commission, Solano County Resource Conservation District, the Napa Resource Conservation District and the Napa Dive Club to clean up Lake Berryessa’s Markley Cove, Pope Creek Bridge and Steele Canyon areas on Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served immediately following the cleanup.

In an effort to reduce the use of plastic at the cleanup sites, volunteers are encouraged to bring a bucket or reusable bag as well as work gloves, a reusable water bottle and trash grabbers (if possible), but supplies will be available for all who need them. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, a hat and sunscreen and should be prepared to be outside in potentially changing weather.

To volunteer, please contact Phillip Collins at 707-966-2111 ext. 111 (TTY 800-877-8339) or pmcollins@usbr.gov. Pre-registration is required for this event. Details about meeting locations and lunch at each site will be provided as individuals call in to pre-register.

Held every year on the third Saturday in September, California Coastal Cleanup Day is the state’s largest volunteer event. For additional information, please visit http://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/ccd/ccd.html.
