FOLSOM, Calif. -- The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for the execution of a temporary Warren Act contract with the East Bay Municipal Utility District. The Warren Act contract would allow for the storage and conveyance of non-Central Valley Project water from the Placer County Water Agency’s Middle Fork Project reservoirs in Folsom Reservoir, Lake Natoma and the Folsom South Canal.

Reclamation proposes to enter into a temporary Warren Act contract to allow EBMUD to store and convey up to 12,000 acre-feet of PCWA’s stored Middle Fork Project water in federal facilities. The Proposed Action will authorize the use of the federally-owned Folsom Reservoir, Lake Natoma and Folsom South Canal for storage and conveyance of the PCWA transfer water. The transfer water will be diverted at EBMUD’s Freeport Regional Water Project intake facility located on the lower Sacramento River below the confluence of the lower American and Sacramento rivers. After diversion at Freeport, the transfer water would be conveyed through the lower reach of the Folsom South Canal via EBMUD’s Folsom South Canal Connection Pipeline and EBMUD’s Mokelumne Aqueducts to the EBMUD service area.

The Final EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are attached to the news release email distribution.
