BOISE, Idaho - The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $4.5 million contract July 21 to Strider Construction Co., a small business based in Bellingham, Washington, to construct a bridge, build access roads and begin earthwork for a new fish passage facility at Cle Elum Dam, 75 miles northwest of Yakima, Washington.

This work is part of the Yakima River Basin Integrated Water Resource Management Plan, a wide partnership of stakeholders that have found a comprehensive approach to water resources and ecosystem restoration improvements. Components will include Cle Elum Dam being raised and the building of a one-of-a-kind fish passage facility.

This first phase of construction will begin in September and is expected to be complete in October 2016.

"We're excited to take the next step in implementing the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan on the ground," says Regional Director, Lorri Lee. "This work will be the beginning infrastructure needed to achieve fish passage at Cle Elum Dam."

Strider is a heavy civil contractor with over 20 years' experience specializing in roadway, bridge and utility work for both public and private sector clients, predominantly in the State of Washington.
