Reclamation Announces Summer Tour Schedule at Shasta Dam

SHASTA LAKE, Calif. ? The Bureau of Reclamation will begin the summer tour schedule at Shasta Dam on Saturday, May 23. Daily tour times are 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Check-in at the Shasta Dam Visitor Center is required at least 30 minutes prior to the tour to receive free tickets and instructions on the limited items permitted on the tour. Tours are available on a first come - first served basis with a maximum of 40 people allowed on each tour. Tours commence at the second tower on the dam, which is a short walk from the Visitor Center. Ample free parking is provided.

The Visitor Center offers displays and exhibits on Shasta Dam’s construction and local history, the Central Valley Project, water conservation and management, and power generation. A video featuring a tour of the dam is provided in the auditorium. The Visitor Center also offers many interactive displays, a kid’s corner and the Discover Your Northwest Gift Shop. The Center is open 7 days a week, except federal holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Shasta Dam is located approximately 10 miles north of Redding, Calif. Exit at Shasta Dam Boulevard (exit 685) off Interstate 5 and drive west six miles to the dam.
