FOLSOM, Calif. -- The Bureau of Reclamation has released the final Environmental Assessment for the execution of a temporary Warren Act contract with the Santa Clara Valley Water District, to allow for the storage and conveyance of non-Central Valley Project water from Foresthill Public Utility District?s Sugar Pine Reservoir in Folsom Reservoir and Lake Natoma.

The temporary WA contract will allow SCVWD to store and convey of 2,000 acre-feet per year of FPUD?s Sugar Pine Reservoir water. The proposed action will authorize the use of the federally-owned Folsom Reservoir and Lake Natoma for storage and conveyance of the FPUD transfer water. The state-owned Harvey O. Banks Pumping Plant and South Bay Aqueduct will be utilized to convey the water to SCVWD.

FPUD will release the 2,000 acre-feet of transfer water from its Sugar Pine Reservoir into North Shirttail Canyon Creek which subsequently flows into the North Fork American River and Folsom Reservoir. Transfer water would be stored and later released in the 2014-2015 water year for conveyance through the Lower American River and Sacramento River to the State Water Project?s Banks Pumping Plant, which would convey the FPUD water to the South Bay Aqueduct for delivery to SCVWD.
