FOLSOM, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released environmental documents for a public safety improvement project at Folsom Dam.

Reclamation, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the State of California Central Valley Flood Protection Board and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, has made available today the Finding of No Significant Impact for the Folsom Dam Safety and Flood Damage Reduction Project – Right Bank Stabilization.

Reclamation will provide a Land Use Agreement to the Corps for the purposes of using Reclamation lands for their proposed Folsom Dam Safety and Flood Damage Reduction Project – Right Bank Stabilization. As part of this project, the Corps, along with the CVFPB and SAFCA, proposes to install about 40 rock bolts along 400 feet of the lower right bank slope of the American River to stabilize a large rock mass. In addition, a 20-foot wide access road and platform would be constructed to allow for mobilization of the required construction equipment. The Corps is the federal lead agency for this action. Reclamation’s FONSI is supported by the Corps Final Supplemental Environmental Assessment/Environmental Impact Report prepared for the activities associated with this LUA action.

This FONSI was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=1808. If you encounter problems accessing the document, please call 916-978-5100 or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
