For Release: December 01, 2014

NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation, Central California Area Office, will temporarily close Spanish Flat Recreation Area at Lake Berryessa beginning Thursday, Jan 1, 2015. Drought conditions and resulting low visitation have caused Spanish Flat Recreation Area to become economically unfeasible for the concessionaire to operate during the off-peak recreation season.

Visitors are encouraged to use the recreation areas at Lake Berryessa that typically remain open during the off-peak recreation season, including Putah Canyon Recreation Area, Steele Canyon Recreation Area, Pleasure Cove Marina, Markley Cove Resort, and Oak Shores and Smittle Creek Day Use Areas. The locations of these recreation areas can be found on the map at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/berryessa/maps/Berryessa_Map2013.pdf.

The Spanish Flat Recreation Area is scheduled to re-open on Friday, May 15, 2015, if drought conditions have substantially improved. For additional information on Spanish Flat Recreation Area services and schedules, please call the concessionaire, Pleasure Cove Marina, LLC, at 707-966-9600 or visit their website at http://www.goberryessa.com/.

For information on recreation services, lake levels, launch ramp availability, etc. please call the Lake Berryessa Administration Office at 707-966-2111 or visit the Lake Berryessa website at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/berryessa/index.html.
