Reclamation to Host Truckee Basin Study Technical Workshop

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation will host an information workshop with the Truckee Basin Study Technical Advisory Group on Monday, Nov. 3. This is the fourth technical workshop for the study. It will focus on evaluations of climate impact adaptation options developed at the July 14 Technical Advisory Group meeting.

The Technical Advisory Group is composed of technical experts, stakeholders and members of the public who have an interest in the basin study. Each workshop will focus on a different technical aspect or component of the basin study process, including approaches for determining water supply, water demand, assessment of potential future climate impacts, and options for managing risks or imbalances.

The purpose of the Truckee Basin Study is to identify and address potential imbalances between water supply and demand for Truckee Basin water users that may be exacerbated by climate change. The basin study is also investigating potential impacts to associated resources such as hydropower and recreation. It is being conducted as a collaborative effort among Reclamation and four non-federal cost share partners: Placer County Water Agency, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Truckee Meadows Water Authority and Truckee River Flood Management Authority.
