For Release: March 24, 2005

Today, beginning at 1 p.m., the Bureau of Reclamation will increase releases in the Lower American River below Nimbus Dam from 6,000 to 15,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The flow increase, which is for flood control, will reach 15,000 cfs by 6 p.m. today. This release schedule is subject to change and based on the current forecast; expect flows to remain high through Sunday. Updates will be announced as conditions require a change in operations.

Recreationists on or along the Lower American River are advised to exercise caution due to higher and colder river flow conditions.
