Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Documents on Conveyance and Storage of Groundwater in Delta-Mendota Canal to Del Puerto Water District

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation today released final environmental documents for the proposed issuance of a Warren Act contract for the introduction of up to 13,000 acre-feet per year of non-Central Valley Project groundwater into the Delta-Mendota Canal for storage and conveyance to Del Puerto Water District for a period not to exceed two years.

The source of the groundwater is from private landowners within Merced County, California (4-S Ranch Partners, LLC and SHS Family Limited Partnership).

The proposed action is in response to drought conditions in the Del Puerto Water District, in the San Joaquin Valley.

The Final Environmental Assessment and Findings of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=17363.
