SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for a proposed canal lining project that would be partially funded with a CALFED Water Use Efficiency Program grant.

Under the proposed action, Reclamation would award Cawelo Water District with a CALFED Water Use Efficiency Grant to assist in funding the lining of Reach B of the Calloway Canal near Bakersfield, Calif. Lining 4,124 feet of Reach B would reduce seepage from the canal of about 1,442 acre-feet per year.

The CALFED Bay-Delta Program is a 30-year program among 25 federal and state agencies with responsibility in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. CALFED Water Use Efficiency Program grants provide matching funds for water conservation projects.

The Draft EA was available for public comment from January 22 to February 4, 2014. No comments were received.
