Reclamation Releases Draft Environmental Documents Assessing Conveyance of Non-Central Valley Project Water from the Kaweah River in the Friant-Kern Canal

FRESNO, Calif.The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review draft environmental documents assessing Warren Act agreements that would allow seven contractors in the Central Valley Project’s Friant Division to convey non-CVP water from the Kaweah River in the federal Friant-Kern Canal.

The amount of water introduced into the canal by each contractor would vary, but the total volume of water for all contractors would not exceed 8,250 acre-feet per year. Each agreement would be issued for a maximum period of five years.

The Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=18061.
