Public Hearing Scheduled for Northwest Area Water Supply Project Environmental Document

BISMARCK, N.D. -- The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public hearing on the Northwest Area Water Supply Project Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (Draft SEIS). The purpose of the environmental impact statement is to evaluate the estimated future water needs of the area through 2060, develop a full range of reasonable alternatives to meet this future need, and evaluate the potential environmental effects of the proposed alternatives.

The purpose of the hearing is to seek public comment regarding the Draft SEIS. The public hearing will provide an opportunity for both verbal and written comment on the contents of the Draft SEIS. Requests to comment may be made at the hearing and speakers will be scheduled accordingly. Comments will be recorded by a court stenographer and included as part of the hearing record.

In addition to accepting verbal comments at the public hearing, written comments may be submitted at the hearing or sent to Northwest Area Water Supply Project Draft SEIS, Bureau of Reclamation, P.O. Box 1017, Bismarck, North Dakota, 58502-1017 by Monday, August 11, 2014. The Draft SEIS can be downloaded from www.usbr.gov/gp/dkao.

  • July 23, 2014 - Open House 6:00-6:30 p.m. CST and
    Public Hearing 6:30-8:30 p.m. CST
