Reclamation to Host Events for Public Comment on Proposed Navajo Generating Station and Kayenta Mine Complex Operations

PHOENIX – The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a series of Open Houses to share information on the development of the Environment Impact Statement (EIS) to study the human and environmental effects of extending operations of the Navajo Generating Station (NGS), located near Page, Arizona and the associated production of coal at the Kayenta Mine, located near Kayenta, Arizona from 2020 through 2044.

The events are open to the public and offer an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and to provide input on environmental factors to be considered in the EIS. Interested individuals are invited to attend at any time during the Open Houses as there will be no formal presentation. EIS project team members will be available to answer questions and written comments are welcome. Navajo and Hopi interpreters will be assisting at some of the scheduled Open Houses.

All comments on the proposed EIS must be postmarked by the end of the comment period on July 7, 2014, to be considered in the Draft EIS. Send written comments via postal mail, hand delivery or courier to:
