NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation’s Central California Area Office and our concessionaire, Royal Elk Park Management, will host the annual HITS Triathlon at Lake Berryessa’s Putah Canyon Recreation Area on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13, from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.

Putah Canyon Recreation Area will experience some temporary interruptions in regular services from this large public event. The east side of Putah Canyon Recreation Area will be temporarily closed to the public for the safety of both triathlon participants and the public, and the main road in the recreation area will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic and boat launching. Limited day use and camping will be available in Putah Canyon’s west side. Please contact Royal Elk Park Management for reservation information at http://www.royalelkparkmanagement.com.

The California Highway Patrol will manage traffic safety and will implement temporary road closures and traffic control during the triathlon events. Local residents will be allowed to enter and exit their residences but may experience short delays. For additional information and course maps, please visit the HITS Triathlon Series at http://www.hitstriathlonseries.com/.

The temporary closures at Putah Canyon will not impact the hours of operation for any other developed recreation areas, marinas or day use areas at Lake Berryessa. Boat launching will be available at Capell Cove Boat Launch, Steele Canyon Recreation Area, Pleasure Cove Marina and Markley Cove Resort. Regular services at Putah Canyon Recreation Area will resume on Monday, April 14, at 7 a.m.
