BOISE, Idaho - The Bureau of Reclamation is advising people to exercise caution as flows begin to gradually increase Saturday along the Boise River from current flows of 300 cubic-feet-per-second at the Glenwood Bridge to about 1,800 cfs by Monday morning.

Flows at the Glenwood Bridge will remain below the 7,000 cfs flood stage, but the increases will be noticeable to people along the Boise River. These flows are slightly higher than normal due to recent increases in snow and precipitation in the watershed.

"The increases are all part of normal springtime river operations and some routine maintenance on the New York Canal," said Brian Sauer, Snake River Area Office Water Operations Manager. "Our main concern is for public safety, the river is very cold and some riverbank areas could be unstable due to increased moisture."

Reclamation coordinates Boise River operations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who manage and operate Lucky Peak Reservoir. Reclamation expects an adequate water supply for irrigation and recreation activities through the season.
