Supplemental Environmental Documents Released for Warren Act Contracts for Conveyance of Groundwater in the Tehama-Colusa and Corning Canals

SHASTA LAKE, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Finding of No Significant Impact for the supplemental Environmental Assessment tiering from the May 2013 Final EA/FONSI for the Five-Year Warren Act Contracts for Conveyance of Groundwater in the Tehama-Colusa and Corning Canals – Contract Years 2013 through 2017 (March 1, 2013, through February 28,2018).The supplemental environmental documents cover an increase in the quantity of water that could be conveyed annually in the canals, from 44,000 acre-feet to 79,800 acre-feet, and a change to the water quality criteria to determine eligibility of groundwater discharges to the canals in drought years.

The Warren Act authorizes Reclamation to negotiate agreements to store or convey non-federal water when excess capacity is available in federal facilities.
