Reclamation Releases Environmental Documents on Del Puerto Water District’s Alternate Points of Delivery on California Aqueduct

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Bureau of Reclamation has released final environmental documents on Del Puerto Water District’s proposal for alternate points of delivery of water and exchange of a portion of its Central Valley Project water for non-CVP water.
DPWD and Oak Flat Water District share several landowners and water users in common. Water delivery to certain DPWD lands would be more efficient if delivered through OFWD’s existing State Water Project turnouts and facilities, due to their location relative to the California Aqueduct and configuration of existing landowner distribution systems.
Reclamation proposes to allow DPWD to use OFWD’s turnouts on the California Aqueduct to deliver the water more efficiently to these customers. The California Department of Water Resources will deliver up to 3,966 acre-feet of water to DPWD from OFWD’s turnouts on the Aqueduct. In exchange, DWR will receive an equal quantity of Del Puerto’s CVP water supplies from the Delta Mendota Canal, to be delivered at O’Neill Forebay.
The Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were released for public comment from August 15, 2013 to September 16, 2013. No comments were received during the comment period.
