For Release: February 07, 2014

SONORA, Calif. – Shasta Lake Resorts LP, the Bureau of Reclamation’s concession operator at New Melones Lake, has notified its marina slip-holders that marina operations will cease by Oct. 1, 2014. Due to drought conditions and forecasted low water levels at New Melones Lake this summer, Shasta Lake Resorts will close the marina effective October 1 in accordance with the terms of their contract, unless lake levels require earlier closure.

The marina provides wet slips for houseboats and pleasure boats; rents houseboats, pleasure boats, kayaks and paddle boards; provides boat fueling and wastewater pump-out stations; and offers a marina convenience store. The marina will cease their rental operations after the Labor Day weekend.

Reclamation staff are evaluating options and determining the best course of action to provide for future marina and other recreation services at New Melones Lake.
