Reclamation Announces Public Workshop on Delta-Mendota Canal/California Aqueduct Intertie Cost Allocation and Repayment

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a public workshop to discuss the draft cost allocation and repayment options for the Delta-Mendota Canal/California Aqueduct Intertie. The Intertie was completed in 2012 and was constructed with both Bay-Delta appropriations and funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The cost allocation identifies the project purpose and beneficiaries for the purpose of recovering the cost of the project. Reclamation has developed three potential options for cost recovery.

The Intertie connects the federal Delta-Mendota Canal and the California Aqueduct through two 108-inch-diameter pipes and a pumping plant with a pumping capacity of 467 cubic feet per second. This connection between the federal Central Valley Project and the State Water Project helps address certain DMC water conveyance limitations, enhance flexibility of water deliveries and allow for infrastructure maintenance and repairs without disrupting water deliveries.
