Reclamation Releases Environmental Documents for Ciervo Hills Giant Kangaroo Rat Habitat Protection Project

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation today released environmental documents for the Ciervo Hills Giant Kangaroo Rat Habitat Protection Project – Martin Ranch Acquisition.

Reclamation is providing $915,268 from the Central Valley Project Conservation Program to the Bureau of Land Management to help purchase 1,602 acres on five parcels of the Martin Ranch in western Fresno County. The purchase would protect the federally listed endangered giant kangaroo rat, San Joaquin kit fox and San Joaquin woolly-threads herb, as well as other sensitive species.

The Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=15261.
