Reclamation Schedules Maintenance Work at Nimbus Fish Hatchery on Wednesday, Oct. 30; Caution Needed Entering and Exiting the Hatchery Parking Lot

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation will perform maintenance work at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery on Wednesday, Oct. 30, which will require the closure of part of the public parking lot and the entrance gate. Work is scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at approximately 6 p.m.

Most of the hatchery parking lot will remain open; however, the entrance gate will be closed and motorists will enter and exit through the exit gate. The public is urged to use caution when entering and exiting the parking lot on Oct. 30.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife operates and maintains the Nimbus Fish Hatchery on behalf of Reclamation. The public is welcome to visit the hatchery at no charge. Chinook salmon return to the American River in the fall, and the hatchery’s fish ladder is scheduled to open on Monday, Nov. 4. The hatchery is located at 2001 Nimbus Road, Gold River, CA 95670 (off Highway 50 and Hazel Avenue).
