Flaming Gorge Visitor Center To Close Briefly To Accommodate

Salt Lake City - The Bureau of Reclamations's Upper Colorado Regional Office announced today that the public visitor center at Flaming Gorge Dam will close briefly from Tuesday, April 20, to Thursday, April 22, to accommodate minor spring remodeling and equipment installation efforts. On Tuesday, workers employed at the dam site, will begin the process of laying new carpet in the visitor center, as well as installing some new video kiosk equipment that is used during public tours of the facility.

In late Spring, Reclamation will again close the visitor center for a brief period of days to accommodate the installation of new wall panel displays that will profile the construction of the dam, the area';s history, nature and geography, as well as the recreational and outdoor opportunities that are available in the local area and/or around the reservoir.

The Flaming Gorge Visitors Center is jointly operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the Forest Service and is open daily from 9:00 a.m., MST, to 3:00 p.m., MST. Prior to entering the visitor center and/or touring the Flaming Gorge Dam, visitors must pass through security screening. Bags, backpacks, and ladies purses are not allowed inside of the dam. Visitors may bring cameras into the center and take them on the tour, but large camera bags are not allowed.
