Environmental Document Released for Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District Paregien Basin Project

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation signed a Finding of No Significant Impact for the Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District Paregien Basin Project.
The proposed construction project consist of two groundwater recharge/stormwater control basins, one of 19.6 acres and one of 3.4 acres, which will provide groundwater recharge and flood protection for the nearby City of Farmersville and the Linnell Farm Labor Center.
The project will provide a reliable source of groundwater recharge for non-storable storm and floodwaters and to improve the District's water supply management efficiency. In addition, new monitoring wells would be installed and oak tree habitat restored. Construction is expected to be from January 2014 through August 2014.
Reclamation will provide a WaterSMART grant to the district to support construction of the project. Reclamation provides cost-shared funding on a competitive basis for on-the-ground water conservation and energy efficiency projects.
The draft FONSI and associated Environmental Assessment/Initial Study were available for public review from July 10, 2013 to August 8, 2013. No comments were received.
