SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation today released final environmental documents for restoring 198 acres of floodplain at Dos Rios Ranch to benefit endangered riparian wildlife in Stanislaus County, Calif.

Reclamation is providing $575,456 from the Central Valley Project Conservation Program to River Partners to restore and enhance riparian and wetland habitats at Dos Rios Ranch and conduct avian monitoring in and adjacent to the ranch. The project is located at the confluence of the Tuolumne and San Joaquin rivers,  adjacent to the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge. The action will supplement funding from the Natural Resources Conservation Service Wetland Reserve Program to restore habitat at the project site.

The restored habitats will provide a suitable reintroduction site for riparian brush rabbits, as well as expanded habitat areas for riparian woodrat, least Bell’s vireo, valley elderberry longhorn beetles, three state-listed bird species, and five California Species of Concern. These species and their habitats have been impacted by the Central Valley Project, and restoration or enhancement of their habitat is in keeping with goals of the CVPCP.

The Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=11810.
