GRAND COULEE, Wash. - The Bureau of Reclamation's Pacific Northwest Region has postponed the premier of a new educational and entertaining laser light show which is being developed to be shown across the face of Grand Coulee Dam. The new show entitled, "One River, Many Voices" will be unveiled next summer. One River, Many Voices will tell the story of the dam through the voices and perspectives of various individuals who have contributed to its history.

"While Reclamation had hoped the new show would be ready this summer, stakeholders feel that more work is needed after reviewing the draft program," said Lynne Brougher, Grand Coulee Dam Public Affairs Officer. "We decided to take the time and make sure the show was balanced, entertaining, accurate, and inspiring." Brougher said 14 stakeholders have been working together since September 2012 to provide a fresh and broader perspective of the history of the dam and people it affected.

LumaLaser, Eugene, Ore., received the contract award with funding from the Bonneville Power Administration to produce the new show, design a new projection system, and install the updated equipment.

The existing "Water and Life" show, which remains popular to thousands of visitors, is shown nightly. "Water and Life," the original show started in 1989 and ran for 24 consecutive summer seasons. It told the story of the dam and the Columbia Basin Project. In 2011, Reclamation decided to replace the aging equipment and the outdated show.
