Pojoaque, N.M. - The Bureau of Reclamation will conduct geological investigations in the Pojoaque Basin beginning July 8 through the first week in August to identify potential locations and alignments for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System.

Test pit excavation and exploratory hole drilling will take place at 22 investigation sites located along highways 502 and 285, in Ancho Arroyo, Rio Tesuque and other area arroyos to enable Reclamation to test the soil and near-surface geology. The data obtained from the drilling will facilitate greater certainty in mapping out the project that will distribute water to the Pueblos of San Ildefonso, Pojoaque, Nambé and Tesuque, as well as area residences and businesses.

Work crews will be visible along the highways during the investigations. Caution should be taken when driving past the crews and equipment. For more information regarding the geotechnical investigation work, contact Rick Hall, Lead Engineer, at 505-462-3641.
