NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation will delay some scheduled recreation area openings and reduce certain environmental education and interpretive programs at Lake Berryessa recreation areas due to federal sequester. Despite these impacts, Reclamation is committed to providing high-quality spring recreation opportunities.

The closures and reduced services include:

  • Winter seasonal closures in the northern portion of Oak Shores Day Use Area will remain in effect until May 19 or until an interim contract is awarded to provide camping services.
    • Interpretive hiking and kayaking programs for April and May are cancelled. Interpretive programs for summer 2013 will commence on June 1. Please visit the Lake Berryessa website for information on scheduled programs at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/berryessa/.
    • Four of the environmental education programs for area schools that were scheduled in May are cancelled. Environmental education programming will resume in fall 2013.
