Reclamation Announces Final Schedule for Releases into Trinity River as Part of Restoration Program

SHASTA LAKE, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that releases from Lewiston Dam into the Trinity River will increase to a peak flow of 4,500 cubic feet per second for two days as part of the Trinity River Restoration Program. The public should take appropriate safety precautions whenever river flows are high. Landowners are advised to clear personal items and debris from the floodplain prior to the releases.

Releases will begin increasing April 21 and provide 2,000 cfs from April 22 to May 1, when releases will again increase to reach peak flows of 4,500 cfs on May 2 and May 3. Beginning May 4, flows will decrease to a summer base-flow of 450 cfs by June 24. There will be three short benches for monitoring purposes as the decreases occur at 2,000 cfs, 1,200 cfs and 700 cfs. The total water allocation for Trinity River restoration flows this dry water year is 453,000 acre-feet.

The flow release schedule is also posted at the Trinity River Restoration Program office, located at 1313 South Main Street, Weaverville, Calif.
