Reclamation Selects Jerry Cheek as the Supervisory Civil Engineer at the Upper Snake Field OfficeBurley, Idaho - The Bureau of Reclamation selected Jerry Cheek as the Supervisory Civil Engineer manager for the Upper Snake Field Office located in Burley, Idaho, where he will manage operations and maintenance for several dams and powerplants on the upper Snake River. Cheek is replacing Larry Hieb who retired after 34 years of Federal service.

He came to the area in December from Reclamation's Umatilla Field Office in north central Oregon, where he served as a civil engineer overseeing the operation and maintenance of the newly built Umatilla Basin Water Exchange facilities that improve anadromous fishery habitat.

"I enjoy working with members of the irrigation community and others who help us to provide water for power production and recreation," Cheek said. "I'm looking forward to working with our professionals here in Reclamation and getting to know the people in the area."

He first joined Reclamation in 1991, after earning his Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering from Montana State University. At that time he was assigned to the Ephrata Field Office in Ephrata, Wash., as a hydraulic engineer managing dams, canals, and pumping plants and assisting several irrigation districts.

The Upper Snake Field Office manages six projects, eight dams, and two power plants located in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. It operates under the Snake River Area Office in Boise, Idaho.
