SHASTA LAKE, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation today released for public review draft environmental documents for approval to enter into five-year contracts for conveyance of groundwater in Central Valley Project facilities, specifically, the Tehama-Colusa and Corning Canals, when capacity is available.
The contracts would be with seven or more of the 17 water districts served by the canals. This action would be to allow groundwater to be delivered to other areas within each district’s boundary to supplement diminished CVP water supplies, as needed, for contract water years 2013 through 2017. The quantity of groundwater pumped into the canals would not exceed a combined total of 44,000 acre-feet.
