For Release: April 12, 2013

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation today released final environmental documents for the Winchell Cove Pipeline Project in Fresno County in California. The project will provide more efficient operations, flexibility, and reliability in the delivery of water to current Central Valley Project customers near Friant, Calif.

In 1988, Reclamation allowed Fresno County to construct and operate a pipeline at Winchell Cove within the Millerton Lake State Recreation Area.  The pipeline transports CVP water to Fresno County Service Area 34. The county is concerned about the reliability of the existing system and is proposing a new, parallel pipeline.

The Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=7898. If you encounter problems accessing the document online, please call 916-978-5100 or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
